To Whom It May Concern,
In July 2015 my Son and I purchased a Solar Heating Unit from Maggie & Cowboy of Plainlands, Queensland. This was a 90 litre unit together with a 120w electric hot water pump.
The frame was simple to assemble and in order to mount it on my donga and face the unit towards North I first screwed two rails of hardwood 4” x 3” either side of the hip roof, and then screwed the frame to the rails. My son assisted me to mount the
tank and insert the tubes which was made easier by lubricating the ends of the glass tubes with a small amount of dish detergent. The plumbing was simple enough and the small electric pump activated automatically when a hot water tap was turned on. The 90l tank has two hot water outlets and notrequiring two we blanked one off.
Following the installation we had many bright sunny winter days and found that the unit was a bit too efficient for the hot water demand of one person. The unit tended to boil between 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. We decided to purchase 3 metres of 50% shade cloth and covered the unit, fastening with zip ties. It hasn’t boiled since and provides more than adequate hot water for one person for showering and washing up etc. I am very happy with the performance of the system and with the very reasonable outlay and economy I would recommend it to others.
